Mercedes-Benz EV Charging Stations in Canada: Fast, Convenient, and Universal (2026)

Mercedes-Benz has made a significant leap in the electric vehicle (EV) landscape by introducing its inaugural DC fast-charging stations in Canada. This initiative kicks off with three strategically located sites in British Columbia, marking the beginning of a more extensive fast-charging network designed to serve the Metro Vancouver area.

Under the banner of Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging (HPC), new charging hubs have been established in Abbotsford, Pitt Meadows, and Tsawwassen, with plans for an additional five locations slated for development in the upcoming months. Once these projects are fully realized, the total of eight charging sites will create a comprehensive regional network that covers the Greater Vancouver region and stretches throughout Southern British Columbia.

What makes these charging stations particularly noteworthy is their innovative “four-cable” design, which includes CCS-1 and NACS connectors at every stall. This feature eliminates the need for drivers to carry adapters or worry about whether a particular stall is compatible with their vehicle, simplifying the charging experience immensely.

Heiko Schmidt, the president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging North America and Canada, emphasized this commitment, stating, "With our new design, every stall supports every vehicle – no adapters, no barriers – reflecting our dedication to simplicity, reliability, and accessibility for all. This is a crucial step in developing the infrastructure necessary for EV ownership while also enhancing the public charging network across Canada."

These charging hubs are strategically situated at retail and mixed-use venues, with four out of the eight sites being developed in collaboration with BGO Properties. The complete list of locations includes:

  • Abbotsford – Abbotsford Power Centre
  • Coquitlam – Sunwood Square
  • Nanaimo – Woodgrove Shopping Centre
  • Penticton – Penticton Lakeside Resort
  • Pitt Meadows – Meadowvale Shopping Centre
  • Squamish – Squamish Station
  • Surrey – Panorama Village
  • Tsawwassen – Tsawwassen Mills

Each of these sites boasts Alpitronic HYC 400 DC fast chargers, capable of delivering up to 400 kW of power. For those EVs that can utilize such rapid charging speeds, Mercedes-Benz highlights that models like the forthcoming electric GLC can gain approximately 303 kilometers (188 miles) of range within just 10 minutes of charging.

Moreover, these stations will facilitate Plug and Charge functionality for compatible vehicles. This means that drivers can start charging and processing payments automatically simply by plugging in their vehicles—no apps, cards, or taps needed, thus enhancing convenience.

The expansion of Mercedes-Benz's charging network in Canada comes on the heels of similar high-power charging initiatives that the automaker has been implementing across the United States. This effort is part of a broader strategy to develop a distinct branded public charging network, complementing existing charging providers. Currently, Mercedes-Benz operates over 650 charging stalls in the U.S.

Curious about the future of electric vehicle charging? Mercedes-Benz is also gearing up to launch 600 kW fast charging stations in 2026, further pushing the boundaries of EV technology and infrastructure.
