Jim Harbaugh: John 'Best Coach I Know,' Hopes He Lands in NFC

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- The NFL has lost one Harbaugh coach, but Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh isn't worried about his older brother's job security. Jim believes John will be a head coach again soon.

"He'll be a head coach next year," Jim Harbaugh said with confidence. "We'll be playing against him in some form or fashion."

John Harbaugh was fired as coach of the Baltimore Ravens a day earlier after 18 seasons, including a Super Bowl victory over Jim's San Francisco 49ers. The Ravens finished 8-9 and missed the playoffs this season.

Jim Harbaugh will lead the visiting Chargers (11-6) against the New England Patriots (14-3) in an AFC wild-card game on Sunday.

When asked about his brother's dismissal, Jim Harbaugh said, "Yeah, as were many."

"John Harbaugh is the best coach I know, the best coach I've ever seen," Jim Harbaugh said with a smile. "I might be biased, being his brother."

John Harbaugh's record in Baltimore was impressive, going 193-124 overall, including the postseason. He led the Ravens to the AFC Championship Game four times, including their Super Bowl-winning season.

Jim Harbaugh expressed his admiration for his brother's achievements, saying, "It's great to see the support and recognition for all his accomplishments."

John Harbaugh is not alone in his unemployment. The NFL has seven head coaching positions open, including AFC spots in Cleveland, Las Vegas, Tennessee, and Baltimore. The NFC jobs available are in Arizona, Atlanta, and New York, with sources indicating the Giants as a potential favorite for Harbaugh.

There's also a possibility that a team without an immediate opening could pursue him.

Jim Harbaugh hopes his brother lands in the NFC, stating, "I told him, whatever team he goes to will be formidable. Just hope it's in the NFC."

John Harbaugh has a 3-0 record against his younger brother.

"He'll be attacking with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind the next time," Jim Harbaugh predicted.
