A Fire in Toronto: Three People Injured, One in Critical Condition
A fire broke out in a Toronto apartment building on Sunday morning, leaving three individuals injured and one in a life-threatening condition. The incident occurred at approximately 1:50 a.m. at an apartment complex on Queen Street West, near Sorauren Avenue and Roncesvalles Avenue. The building is owned by the Parkdale Activity-Recreation Centre.
According to the Toronto Police Service, a man in his 40s was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. Two other individuals at the property also received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries. The Toronto Fire Services reported that firefighters encountered flames and smoke on the main floor, prompting an evacuation of the building. A TTC shelter bus was provided to ensure the residents' warmth during the emergency.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Toronto police and fire services. The circumstances leading up to the incident are also being examined. As a result, the TTC 301 Queen streetcars were temporarily diverted from Queen Street West for several hours due to the emergency response.
